“ A very personal statement… obviously… Puppy No-Mark enjoys his birthday picnic by the river… The weapons of old are laid down on the grass… and he smiles for the camera… People might recognise that the bone he's holding is a human femur… there are also teeth on the picnic blanket… Most of the objects in the painting are clearly penetrative… and the entire composition of “No Use Crying” is in the background, over that stretch of river… I always wore shorts as a child… with a snake belt… Oh yes, shorts and a shirt and a flower power tie… that was me, and I felt just great.
This charming picture is indeed a self-portrait… Packing and unpacking… in an idyllic world…”
